DECEMBER 9 – INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY

09.12.2024 09.12.2024 308

Dear colleagues, dear metallurgists!

On the initiative of the United Nations, December 9 has been celebrated since 2004 as the International Anti-Corruption Day.

Corruption causes serious damage to the development of all spheres of any state and society, slows down progress, destroys the state from within, condemns people to disasters, and leads to violations of rights and interests. This is one of the most pernicious phenomena that threatens the development and well-being of the State and the people.

Corruption is generated by individuals who take advantage of imperfect management systems and skillfully exploit human weaknesses for personal gain. The main harm of corruption lies in the fact that corrupt officials, by acquiring unnecessary benefits, deprive others of necessary resources. Today they are stealing something that could serve as a resource for the development of each of us in the future.

Corruption deprives our children of faith in a decent future, the opportunity to take their place in society, as well as faith in justice and justice.

The fight against this crime around the world has become one of the most urgent tasks. Currently, Uzbekistan is going through a period of political and socio-economic transformations, striving to become an open, competitive and dynamically developing country. To achieve these noble goals, serious steps are being taken to combat corruption, eliminate the factors that create conditions for its occurrence, and prevent and eradicate this phenomenon.

As part of the fight against this evil, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Combating Corruption" was adopted in our country, an Anti-Corruption Agency was established, and additional measures are being implemented to organize effective anti-corruption activities.

On June 5 of this year, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On conflict of interests" was adopted. This legal document is of great importance, as it is aimed at preventing corruption, which is a destroyer of a democratic society. The Law has become an important legal basis for eliminating conflicts of interest. It clearly defines the concept of a conflict of interest, the responsibilities of civil servants and the mechanisms for its regulation.

It is also extremely important to prevent conflicts of interest at our plant, as well as corruption. If this problem is ignored and not brought under control, it can undermine our development through the actions of officials and the decisions they make.

A team of many thousands of metallurgists understands perfectly well that where there is corruption, there is no development. The plant implements measures to identify, assess and reduce corruption risks, raise awareness of managers and employees about internal anti-corruption procedures, as well as improve their knowledge and skills in this area.

   Dear colleagues!

We must jointly create an atmosphere of absolute intolerance to any manifestations of corruption at the plant. No one should stand aside or be indifferent in the fight against this phenomenon. Do not forget that we are all responsible for ensuring the openness and transparency of management at the plant!

Every employee and manager who values the future and reputation of our country and the plant should be vigilant to the threats of corruption and actively fight it. This is the requirement of today.

Dilshod Axmedov, Chairman of the Management Board - General Director "Uzmetkombinat" JSC.
